I was even told by one Comcast rep that using separate SSIDs is the reason I couldn't change channels now (I've been able to set them manually for months ever since getting my Xfinity modem/router) - BTW setting the SSIDs the same doesn't allow manual channel selection regardless of what they tried to tell me.

In case this solution works for you, I have XB7 run directly to 24 port Gb "smart" switch and all device use (incrementally) the same 10.0.0. IP address. Haven't tried poking around with ssh to another device on a different port on the XB7 at the same time but will give it a go and see if there is any difference as far as IP address assignments.

Xfinity has hijacked the manual configuration options for both 2.4 and 5ghz channels and there is no indication xfinity is going to let end users change any settings for channels or bandwidth options for either radio.
